Responses are being collated by an online survey, schools, trusts, parents/carers and any interested parties may all contribute to the Admission Consultation. If you wish to contribute you are invited to go to https://www.york.gov.uk/SchoolAdmissions2026To2027 and complete the appropriate survey online.

 Any comments received regarding a Multi Academy Trust policy or PAN change will be forwarded to the relevant Trust, who are their own admission authority, to consider within their own admission consultation. Please be aware that if there are no proposed changes an admission authority may not be holding a consultation.

Following the consultations, each admission authority will formally set (‘determine’) their admission arrangements for admission in 2026 – 2027 by 28 February 2025.  Determined policies will be on the City of York Council website by 15 March 2025 after which objections can be raised.

Welcome back to all of our Lakeside families and welcome to our new starters.

It has been lovely to see everyone back at school this week with huge smiles and lots of enthusiasm. Everyone looks so smart in their uniforms and have really shown that they are ‘Ready to learn’.

The Mastering Number programme for Early Years and KS1 is designed to help children in embed good number sense and build confidence and fluency with number facts. These daily sessions, in addition to Maths lessons, focus on building firm foundations for Maths in KS2 and later life.

This week, we have launched the Mastering Number Parent Project in Early Years and KS1. Thank you to the children and parents who attended the sessions and we can’t wait to see how you get on with the games and activities at home over the next five weeks!

This year, we have also introduced a KS2 Mastering Number programme in Year 4 and 5. This focuses on developing automaticity in multiplication and division facts through regular practice, a building a deeper understanding of multiplication structures.

The children are really excited to keep ‘Going for Gold’ as they learn more of the Core Multiplication Facts, using songs, games and gestures.

We joined together to share Christmas cheer and it was a fabulous way to start the Christmas celebrations. We were so proud of all the children who performed together especially with the solos. Many thanks goes to Mrs Marshall for all her organising especially for arranging for her daughter, Miss Marshall, to sing alongside the children. That was such a treat. Thank you to York Arts Education for their fantastic tech support. And finally thank you to all the staff who supported and the parents for getting the children there. Hopefully this will be the first of many joint ventures!

This week we have had a fabulous week where KS1 and KS2 took part in the ‘Into Film Festival’ by visiting Vue to cinema to see a range of films. It is a great opportunity since we have the cinema right on our door. It was so exciting walking to the cinema, then curling up in the really comfy seats to watch a film. Hopefully we’ll get to go again soon.

What is the Festival?

The 2023 Into Film Festival is taking place between 7-24 November, and will help educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds across the UK by inspiring young people to watch, understand and make film in new and creative ways.

The Festival programme features thousands of free film screenings, special events and previews, and interactive Q&A sessions with screen industry professionals, making it the perfect opportunity to support young people in enjoying the big screen experience.

On Thursday 9th February the Year 4 team set off for a tour of York Stadium!

Throughout the tour they learnt so many facts about York and our football team. One of the highlight’s was an opportunity to be match reporters for the day and interview a York City player!

After that the children headed out for a training session on the astroturf with coaching from one of the squad.

Finally, to round off the trip: A tour around the stadium, a look in the changing rooms, walking out onto the pitch through the famous tunnel and sitting in the best VIP seats in the stadium!

What an amazing day and one to be remembered. The visit was fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed by all!

Here, Everyday, Ready, On time

This week, 17.10.22 to 21.10.22, for each day your child is in school and on time they will get a raffle ticket and will be entered into the Autumn Draw. On Friday in assembly we will draw the winner. Let’s make this week the best attendance week of the term!
