PLANS FOR NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR
Over the last week we have been visited by some of our new leadership team, Mrs Hayes-Smith and Miss Bamford. They have met staff and children and have begun to make plans for the next academic year. Miss Bamford will hold the post of Assistant Headteacher and be Lakeside’s Special Educational Needs lead going forward. They will be supported in this by Mrs Pullan who will lead the EYFS and KS1 team from September.
All our children and families currently supported by Mrs Hinchcliffe, will in September be supported by Miss Bamford. The staff team are meeting next week to discuss transition arrangements and map out the needs of all our children into next year. In addition to this, the school will be supported by Mrs Doyle, an experienced member of Ebor Academy Wellbeing team, who will work in school on Thursdays next year to support the children, parents and staff in ensuring Lakeside continues to meet the needs of all our community and support our pastoral team.
I hope you will join me in wishing all our new staff team a warm welcome. Miss Bamford and Mrs Hayes Smith will be in school on Wednesday afternoon if you would like to call in to say hello.
Moving on…
The final half-term of the school year is nearly over and we are starting to prepare to say a sad goodbye to our Year 6 children and a number of departing staff.
Mrs Lovelady is retiring after 14 years teaching at Lakeside, she has enjoyed teaching across KS1 where she has been the team leader and literacy leader. She certainly deserves a happy retirement and will leave with many happy memories and leave many friends behind.
Mrs Timmins is leaving after almost 19 years at Lakeside. She came in 1999 as a parent volunteer and was then employed as a Teaching Assistant where she has worked across nearly all the year groups, more latterly in Upper KS2.
Mrs Hopwood is also retiring. She has been at Lakeside for 18 years as a Teaching Assistant in KS2 and has supervised many children in her role as lunchtime supervisor.
Mrs Scott and Mrs Pang two of our lunchtime supervisors are also leaving to retire and take up new hobbies.
We wish them all well in their new ventures. They will be greatly missed by both children and the staff team. A big thankyou to you all from everyone in the Lakeside Team.
