Lunches

We have a lovely dining room, and we encourage a calm atmosphere, which promotes eating and interacting politely with each other, as a family around the table.

We are very proud of our school lunches. Our school cook produces delicious, nutritious food to the highest standards, with exceptional quality ingredients. There is always both a hot and cold option and dietary requirements are catered for.

School lunches are currently government funded from reception until Year 3.

Children can bring a packed lunch from home if they prefer.

Wraparound care in school

Breakfast and after-school wrap around care is available from 7am until 6pm and is charged separately.

Childcare vouchers can be used to pay for care.

Childminders

The school is really lucky to have a strong network of childminders who work closely with Lakeside. The childminders pick their children up from the school and look after them in their own homes.

This is a good option if you require childcare during the school holidays.

Childcare vouchers can be used to pay for care.

Monitoring Progress

We keep you regularly informed of your child’s day to day development and informal parent/teacher consultations are held in both the autumn and summer terms, where you will be invited to discuss your child with a member of staff.

Parents as Partners

We aim to build a close two-way partnership with each parent. You are encouraged to talk briefly to the EYFS team at the beginning or end of a session and are always welcome to make an appointment for a longer discussion. We keep parents informed of our curriculum topics and provide links to develop learning within these areas at home.

How parents can take part

  • Informing us about their child’s likes and dislikes during our home visits.
  • Sharing news of special family celebrations or occasions.
  • Celebrating and sharing progress, efforts and achievements from outside of nursery.
  • Joining us on special occasions in school, on visits and outings.
  • Coming in to read a story to the class.
  • Sharing their own special interest, profession or hobby with the children.

Thank you for your interest in Lakeside Reception

Nursery

We would like to welcome you to Lakeside Nursery

When Clifton Moor Pre-School closed it seemed natural that Lakeside Primary Academy should take over the reins as we already shared a location and community.

Lakeside is supported by Ebor Academy Trust which has many pre-school nurseries in its 25 primary schools, believing this is the best way to help your child become reception ready.

Our aim is to provide a secure, and stimulating environment where our children are happy to explore, discover and learn through play. They are encouraged to be independent and make their own play choices, providing an endless list of creative ways to spark their imaginations. We develop their social and communication skills through teamwork challenges such as den building.
